The Three Winning Elements of Marketing

8 November 2011

As we approach the end of the year, I wanted to ask you what actions have you taken in 2011 that have positively impacted your business?

Speaking from a business development perspective, are you happy with how the year is panning out?

It's tough, undoubtedly, and the greatest issue that I am finding in relation to new business development, is what I call, the three winning elements of marketing - Structure, Focus and Action.

Structure - Without it, there is no plan, no control and no accountability.
Look at how you currently promote your business. Do you have a plan? Are you controlling the controllables? can you measure the success of every marketing and business development activity?

Focus - Without it, there is no direction, no targets and no measurement.
Discipline is key here. Select your target market, service, product and stick with it to extract the maximum return you can from every opportunity.

Action - Without it, there are no results, no forward momentum and no new business!
As Benjamin Franklin said, "Never confuse motion with action." Marketing fails when no action is taken. You can have the best looking marketing plan and strategy, but without action they remain plans and strategies. Whatever you do, take action!

So my message as you plan for the final push in 2011 and as you set your budgets for 2012 is to make sure to take into account Structure, Focus and Action in all of your marketing and business development activities.

Wishing you every success,

John
